Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variat wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils that help regulate body temperature.
The Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this naturally dyed wool one by one by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, creatively imagined by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are not only suitable for laying on the floor but can also be displayed on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a distinct odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
