Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, nomadic people who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, as well as a soft and pleasant texture due to its high oil content, which helps with body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand with wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug, a piece you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping
If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
