Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains. They are hand-woven using naturally dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is soft and pleasant to the touch, containing a lot of oil to help with temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads thread by thread after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created by nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, dyeing inconsistencies, etc. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used on the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
