Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-knot them from vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils to effectively regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-knotted one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Gabbeh rugs that are tightly woven are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing you from feeling hot.
And, above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on a wall as a piece of art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the hand-knotted nature, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-knotted items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, there may be a distinctive odor from the wool dyes.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms located at the corners and along the edges of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
