Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically inhabit the Zagros Mountains in Iran. They are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, made from plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in oils for effective thermoregulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
Gabbehs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads by carefully dyeing this wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbehs are so durable that they are said to last for 100 years.
Gabbehs, born from regions with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them comfortable even in heat.
And above all, there is their artistry. Nomads create Gabbehs from their imagination, often featuring designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbehs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping

If you request it, the pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for your Gabbeh to be shipped without pompoms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
