Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who inhabit the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are crafted from plant-dyed wool and are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that thrive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, possessing excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps them regulate body temperature effectively.
This wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs known for their plush and comfortable feel.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, providing comfort even in heat.
And, of course, there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a work of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent residue, then air dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of it in advance.
