Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a lot of oil for effective body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh, woven with wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, showcasing their exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with no two being alike; each one is an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
