Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the daily lives of the Qashqai nomads, who weave them by hand using vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, adept at temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, thread by thread, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. The designs of animals, plants, and more are created from the nomads' imaginations, making each Gabbeh a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping
The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
