Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at regulating body temperature.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, of course, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug just for you, one you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with water to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dye variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
