Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
The Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel, as they are hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using this wool, dyed with natural dyes.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting excellent durability.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. The Gabbeh created from the imagination of the nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
As these are hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please be aware that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
