Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile that is integral to their daily life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, allows for effective thermoregulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are exceptionally durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And, above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As a result, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping
The pompoms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery if requested.
Removing the pompoms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
