Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, indicating their exceptional durability.
Born from the climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing heat buildup.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Please Note

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
