Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high amount of oil to help regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads one thread at a time using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Strongly woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And then there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can enjoy for many years?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, or uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dyes may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
