Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
Dyed with natural dyes, each Gabbeh rug is carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one by one, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, providing a cool feeling.
And above all, their artistic quality is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar cloth. Afterward, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Tassels can be removed upon request
The tassels on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before shipping if you request it.
Removing the tassels does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
If you wish to have the tassels removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
