Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who weave them by hand in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in natural oils, making it soft and pleasant to the touch, and adept at temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, thread by thread, after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, showcasing its excellent durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a wet cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
