Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and is rich in lanolin for effective temperature regulation, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling wool.
Gabbeh rugs, made by carefully hand-weaving this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, created in a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, offering a cool feeling.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads from their imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be displayed on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or cloth. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving variations, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
