Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who hand-weave them using plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil, making it soft to the touch and good at regulating body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing discomfort from heat.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
The pom-poms located at the corners or in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
