Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are dyed with natural plant dyes and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The wool used in this product, known as Persian Variant, is a soft and pleasant-to-the-touch wool that contains a lot of oil, giving it excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and allowing it to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads strand by strand with this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique original.
They can be placed on the floor or even hung on the wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can enjoy for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape, pattern distortion, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
