This Gabbeh is woven with fine threads, and while it takes more effort to weave, it is a Luri Baf Gabbeh, which is thinner and has a tighter weave than regular Gabbehs.
"Luri" means "fine" and "Baf" means "weave" in Persian.

Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile carpets made from naturally dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai nomadic tribe in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which effectively regulate body temperature.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and then meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are wonderfully soft and plush.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And, above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.

Daily Care

Vacuum or sweep to remove dirt and dust along the pile direction.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
