Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for surviving in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with high oil content that allows for effective body temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who dye this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weave each strand, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable they are said to last 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being an original, unique piece.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, carefully wipe with a wet cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
