Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of natural lanolin, making it soft to the touch and adept at temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, crafted by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave each strand of naturally-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are known for their exceptional durability, said to last up to 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a sensation of coolness.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, as well as variations in weaving and dyeing. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, a unique odor from the wool dye may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
