Characteristics of Persian Hand-knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool as an integral part of their daily lives. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in natural oils, helps in temperature regulation.
Gabbeh rugs, made by nomadic Iranians who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural dye-colored wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing you from feeling the heat.
And, above all, there is their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomadic people, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original and unique item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on walls as art.
Why not find a special Gabbeh rug just for you, one that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, as well as weaving and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. As such, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pompoms can be removed before shipping

The pompoms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pompoms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
