Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture rich in oils that allow for good body temperature regulation.
These Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The designs created by nomads often feature animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time, a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven products.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used to color the wool.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request.

The pom-poms attached to the corners or sides of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before shipping upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish for your order to be shipped without the pom-poms, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
