Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-knotted rugs rooted in the nomadic life of the Qashqai people, who herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully dye this wool with natural dyes and hand-knot each thread one by one, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being an original, one-of-a-kind item.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be irregularities in shape or pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-knotted item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.

The pom-poms located at the corners and in between on Gabbeh rugs can be removed before shipping upon request.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
