Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Varied wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in soft and pleasant-to-the-touch fibers.
Gabbeh, woven painstakingly by hand, one thread at a time, by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. Gabbeh created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
