Characteristics of Hand-Woven Persian Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content, which helps with temperature regulation, allowing the sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains.
Gabbeh rugs, woven with this wool dyed with natural dyes by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are also warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing them from feeling hot.
And above all, there's their artistic quality. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
This smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
