Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads one by one with this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, so they don't feel hot. And above all, there's its artistic quality. Gabbeh created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but they can also be displayed on walls as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Points to Note
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
