Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with long piles, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variat wool used in this product has excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high amount of oil to regulate body temperature, making it soft and pleasant to the touch.
Dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven strand by strand by Iranian nomads, Gabbeh rugs are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively crafted by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They are not only suitable for placing on the floor but also beautiful enough to be displayed as art on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed upon request
The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh rug can be removed before shipment upon your request.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh rug.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipment, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
