Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains, and are long-pile rugs made of vegetable-dyed wool that are deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, which contains a high amount of natural oils to help regulate body temperature.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-weaving each thread by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, demonstrating its exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there's their artistic appeal. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, with each one being a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as a piece of art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight irregularities in shape, pattern distortion, weaving unevenness, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dyes used on the wool.
While the smell will gradually dissipate with use, we kindly ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping
The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
