Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs made from plant-dyed wool, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe who are nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, and are deeply rooted in their way of life. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing the sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by hand, one strand at a time, by Iranian nomads after dyeing the wool with natural dyes, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from the climate with drastic temperature changes between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust by vacuuming or sweeping along the nap of the rug.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
