Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who are nomadic in Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. These gabbeh, dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their plush and comfortable feel. Well-woven gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat. And above all, their artistic quality. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, and each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed as art on a wall. Why not find your own special gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool, which may result in a distinctive odor from the dyes used. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
