Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads who hand-weave them from plant-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel with a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, made by nomads in Iran who hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and comfortable texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh rugs, born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are also characterized by being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer. And above all, their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature animal and plant designs, with each one being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be placed on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish forever?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dye variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven products. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
