Characteristics of Persian Hand-Knotted Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically live in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. They are long-pile rugs made from vegetable-dyed wool, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft texture contains a lot of oil to effectively regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-knotted with great care by Iranian nomads, one thread at a time, using naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. Well-knotted Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, said to last for 100 years. Gabbeh, created in a climate with large temperature differences between day and night, is warm in winter and airy in summer, with the characteristic of not feeling hot. And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imaginatively created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls. Why not find a special Gabbeh that will last you for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-knotted, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-knotted items. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dye used for the wool may occur. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Tassels can be removed before shipping.
If requested, the tassels located at the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping.
Removing the tassels does not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
