Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool to create long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft and pleasant feel comes from the high fat content in the wool, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, woven meticulously by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years. Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, making them feel cool. And above all, their artistry is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, original item. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on the wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated shade.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-woven items. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique smell from the dye used on the wool. The smell will gradually fade with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
