Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomadic people who hand-weave them in the Zagros Mountains of Iran using naturally dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high fat content to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs are made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this natural-dyed wool, resulting in a fluffy and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs are highly durable, with well-woven ones said to last for 100 years.
Born from the climate with large temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing heat buildup.
And, above all, their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece with no two alike.
They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art.
Gabbeh rugs are meant to be used for a long time; why not find your own special Gabbeh?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If stains are a concern: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Precautions
As these are hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the dye used for the wool may occur.
Please note that the odor will gradually disappear with use.
