Features of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in Iran's Zagros Mountains. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from long-pile, vegetable-dyed wool. The "Persian Valiant" wool used in this product comes from sheep that live in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, giving it excellent durability to withstand tough conditions and a soft, pleasant feel with a high oil content for effective body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes, and Iranian nomads meticulously hand-weave each strand, resulting in a Gabbeh that is soft and comfortable to the touch.
Gabbeh rugs, when tightly woven, are highly durable and are said to last for 100 years.
Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there is its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, original item.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on walls.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can enjoy for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a distinctive odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
