Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in the lives of the Qashqai nomads, who weave them by hand using vegetable-dyed wool in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven by Iranian nomads using this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their plush and pleasant feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme daily temperature fluctuations, Gabbeh also have the unique characteristic of being warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, their artistry. Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, original work. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find a special Gabbeh that will be with you for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-woven items. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique scent from the wool dye may be present. This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
