Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are hand-woven rugs with long piles made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant texture, rich in lanolin for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh rugs are made by Iranian nomads who meticulously hand-weave this wool, dyed with natural dyes, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing feelings of heat. And, above all, there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs created from the imagination of nomads often feature animal and plant designs, and each one is a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt by vacuuming or sweeping along the direction of the pile. For persistent stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a well-wrung towel or similar. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, or dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
