Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in nomadic life, handwoven by the Qashqai tribe who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, allowing it to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in oils for effective body temperature regulation. These Gabbeh, handwoven strand by strand by Iranian nomads using natural dyes on this wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from the climate with drastic temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing overheating. And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original. They can be laid on the floor or even displayed on a wall as art. How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with water to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be irregularities in shape, pattern, weave, and dye. Please consider these as part of the charm of a handwoven product. Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.
