Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled rugs, deeply rooted in daily life, hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe nomadic in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with abundant oil content for effective body temperature regulation. Gabbeh, woven by hand, one strand at a time, by Iranian nomads using this natural-dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable feel. Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their exceptional durability. Gabbeh, born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and not feeling hot in summer. Daily Care

Remove dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile. For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing unevenness. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed for shipping

If requested, the pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before shipping. Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
