Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh are long-pile rugs woven by the Qashqai nomads of Iran's Zagros Mountains, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture with a high oil content to effectively regulate body temperature.
These Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously one by one by Iranian nomads using natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh are said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing a feeling of heat.
And above all, there is their artistic quality. The designs of Gabbeh, created from the nomads' imagination, often feature animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor, of course, but also hung on walls as art.
How about finding your own special Gabbeh that you can use for a long time?
Daily Care
Remove dust and debris with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Important Notes
As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
