Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize the Zagros Mountains in Iran. These rugs are deeply rooted in their daily lives, made from plant-dyed wool with a long pile. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for surviving the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant texture rich in natural oils, which helps with body temperature regulation.
The wool is dyed with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, resulting in Gabbeh rugs that are plush and feel delightful to the touch.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are renowned for their durability, said to last for 100 years.
Born from a climate with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.
And, above all, there's their artistic quality. The Gabbeh rugs created from the nomads' imagination often feature animal and plant designs, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They are so artistic that they can be displayed on walls as art, in addition to being laid on the floor.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, one that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn dirt: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
While the odor will gradually dissipate with use, please be aware of this beforehand.
