Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically traverse the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool. The Persian Valiant wool used in this product possesses excellent durability, necessary for survival in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel due to its high oil content, which helps with body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh rugs are made from this wool, dyed with natural dyes, and carefully hand-woven by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in their characteristic fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, demonstrating their superior durability.
Born from a climate with significant day-to-night temperature differences, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and airy and cool in summer.
And above all, there is their artistry. The Gabbeh rugs created by the nomads' imagination often feature designs of animals and plants, with each piece being a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find a Gabbeh rug that you can use forever, a special one just for you?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilated shaded area.
Please Note
Due to being hand-woven, there may be slight distortions in shape or pattern, uneven weaving, and uneven dyeing. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
