Characteristics of Persian Hand-woven Gabbeh Rugs

Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. These are long-pile rugs deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and its soft, pleasant-to-the-touch texture contains a lot of fat to regulate body temperature effectively.
Gabbeh rugs, woven by Iranian nomads hand-tying each strand of this naturally dyed wool, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant feel.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth firmly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, carefully wipe with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, and dry in a well-ventilventilated shade.

Important Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be distortions in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please understand that these are part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can also be removed for shipping

The pom-poms on the corners and in the middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
