Characteristics of Persian Handwoven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are handwoven by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing it to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a high fat content to regulate body temperature, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture.
The Gabbeh rugs are made by Iranian nomads who carefully handweave each strand of this plant-dyed wool, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture.
A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, demonstrating its superior durability.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and airy in summer, preventing overheating.
And, above all, their artistic quality is remarkable. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a piece you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent, then air dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being handwoven, there may be slight irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a handwoven product.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Consequently, there may be a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool.
This scent will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
Pom-poms can be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms on the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before delivery.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
