Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are hand-woven by the Qashqai nomads of the Zagros Mountains in Iran, using vegetable-dyed wool with a long pile, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The "Persian Variant" wool used in this product is exceptionally durable, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil for excellent temperature regulation, resulting in a soft and pleasant feel.
Gabbeh rugs, made by Iranian nomads who carefully hand-weave each strand of this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting outstanding durability.
Born from the extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation.
And above all, there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind original.
They can, of course, be laid on the floor, but are also artistic enough to be hung on a wall.
Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug that you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the direction of the pile.
For stubborn stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water and gently wipe the surface with a tightly wrung towel or similar. Afterward, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent, then dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving inconsistencies, and dyeing variations. Please consider these as part of the charm of a hand-woven item.
Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
Pom-poms can also be removed before shipping.
The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms does not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
If you wish to have the pom-poms removed before shipping, please feel free to contact us via email or phone below.
