Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh are long-piled, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai nomads in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using wool dyed with natural plant dyes. The Persian variant wool used in this product has excellent durability, developed to survive the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and a soft, pleasant feel containing a rich amount of oil for effective body temperature regulation.
The Gabbeh, hand-woven meticulously by Iranian nomads, strand by strand, from wool dyed with natural dyes, is characterized by its plush and comfortable texture.
A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile.
If concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth, remove any detergent residue, and let it dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Important Notes

As these are hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please appreciate these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive smell from the dyes used on the wool may be present.
The smell will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.

Pom-poms can be removed for shipping.

The pom-poms attached to the corners or middle of the Gabbeh can be removed upon request before shipment.
Removing the pom-poms will not negatively affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
