Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven rugs made by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadize in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in a soft and pleasant texture. Gabbeh rugs, hand-woven one by one by Iranian nomads using this wool dyed with natural dyes, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture. A well-woven Gabbeh is said to last 100 years, boasting excellent durability. Gabbeh rugs, born from the climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, are warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing the feeling of heat. And most of all, there's its artistry. Gabbeh rugs, created from the imagination of nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, one-of-a-kind piece. They can be used not only on the floor but also as art on the wall. Why not find your own special Gabbeh rug that you can cherish for a long time?
Daily Care
Vacuum or sweep away dirt and dust along the nap. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to being hand-woven, there may be variations in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dye inconsistencies. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving. Additionally, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used on the wool may occur. This odor will gradually disappear with use, but please be aware of this beforehand.
