Features of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh
Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, hand-woven carpets made from vegetable-dyed wool by the Qashqai nomadic people who roam the Zagros Mountains in Iran, deeply rooted in their daily lives. The Persian Variant wool used in this product is known for its excellent durability, allowing sheep to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and for its soft and pleasant feel, rich in natural oils that help regulate body temperature. Gabbeh rugs are made by hand-weaving this wool, dyed with natural dyes, by Iranian nomads, one strand at a time, resulting in a fluffy and comfortable texture. A tightly woven Gabbeh is said to last for 100 years, boasting exceptional durability. Originating from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs are warm in winter and breathable in summer, offering a cool sensation. And above all, there's their artistry. Gabbeh rugs, imagined and created by nomads, often feature designs of animals and plants, making each one a unique, original piece. They can be laid on the floor or even hung on a wall as art. Why not find your own special Gabbeh, a rug you can cherish for a lifetime?
Daily Care
Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom, following the direction of the pile. For stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool and silk) with water, wring out a towel tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, thoroughly wipe with a damp cloth to remove any detergent residue, and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
Important Notes
Due to the handmade nature, there may be distortions in shape or pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing inconsistencies. Please understand that these are part of the charm of a hand-woven product. Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a distinctive odor from the wool dye may be present. This odor will gradually dissipate with use, but we ask for your understanding in advance.
