Characteristics of Persian Hand-Woven Gabbeh

Gabbeh rugs are long-pile, everyday rugs hand-woven by the Qashqai tribe, who nomadically herd sheep in the Zagros Mountains of Iran, using plant-dyed wool. The Persian Variant wool used in this product has excellent durability to survive in the harsh environment of the Zagros Mountains, and contains a lot of oil to regulate body temperature effectively, resulting in soft and pleasant-feeling fibers.
Gabbeh rugs, made by dyeing this wool with natural dyes and meticulously hand-woven by Iranian nomads, are characterized by their fluffy and pleasant texture.
Well-woven Gabbeh rugs are so durable that they are said to last 100 years.
Born from a climate with extreme temperature differences between day and night, Gabbeh rugs also have the characteristic of being warm in winter and well-ventilated in summer, preventing feelings of heat.

Daily Care

Remove dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom along the pile.
If you are concerned about stains: Dilute a neutral detergent (for wool/silk) with water, wring out a towel or similar cloth tightly, and gently wipe the surface. Then, wipe thoroughly with a damp cloth to remove the detergent and dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.

Notes

Due to being hand-woven, there may be irregularities in shape and pattern, weaving irregularities, and dyeing irregularities. Please consider these as part of the charm of hand-weaving.
Also, Gabbeh rugs are woven from sheep's wool. Therefore, a unique odor from the dyes used to color the wool may occur.
The odor will gradually dissipate with use, but please be aware of this in advance.

Pom-poms can be removed before shipping

The pom-poms attached to the corners and middle of the Gabbeh can be removed before delivery upon request.
Removing the pom-poms will not adversely affect the quality or durability of the Gabbeh.
